Service; a Divine Quality

Today I read about service by Elder Amado. He just spoke about how service is one of the reasons that Christ came to earth. He also spoke about how important it is to serve and how much service to others will benefit you.

I know it's probably not the best to bring T.V into this but there is this friends episode where they are trying to prove that there is no such thing as a selfless act, that no matter what you do, you will gain something for doing something nice for someone else. I think that this is mostly true. I think that through serving others we are taking care of ourselves as well. I know that when I start to focus on how things are effecting me, I start to think that its everyone else's job to keep me happy, but when I focus on others then I seem to feel better without having to try so hard to feel good. (I don't know if this makes sense,so sorry)

Also, I once read this visiting teaching lesson on service and my mom had highlighted this quote about how we don't have to go out and find some remarkable thing to do, but that lots of how we serve is by teaching our families the right principles and values and by being good parents and keeping our family happier because essentially if we keep our familys happy then they will learn to be good members of society and do a lot of good as well. I think it truly is "By the small and simple things, great things come to pass."

My dad sent me this video the day before I locked the kids in the car. I didn't mention that I locked maddie in the car in the morning and later that afternoon I locked both of them in the car. I had to call the locksmith twice in one day. It was pretty embarrassing. I just thought it was funny that my dad sent me this when he didn't even know what I did. Let's just say I have a bad habit of not knowing where my keys and phone are.

Opening our Hearts

Hey Family,

One of my goals is to read an ensign conference article everyday, I'm really not that good at it, but I am trying to be better. My mom used to do this and send us a comment everyday on what she read, she said it would help her pay attention better if she knew she had to write about it, so I thought I would try this out for a little while. If anyone wants to join that would be awesome. I have finished the first saturday session and am on the second.

Today I read Opening our hearts by Elder Lund. He talked about how we all have fences around our hearts and some are welcoming while others have tall fences with keep away signs on them. He said that the Lord is always coming unto your fence but not into it, it is our job to let him in. He is always willing to come to you, but he won't force himself in. We have to use our agency to choose to let him in to our hearts.

"I say again, the condition of our hearts directly affects our sensitivity to spiritual things. Let us make it a part of our everyday striving to open our hearts to the Spirit. Since we are the guardians of our hearts, we can choose to do so. We choose what we let in or hold out. Fortunately the Lord is anxious to help us choose wisely."

I just like that the Lord is always there if I humble myself and am willing to listen. Sometimes when I am mad or something, I don't want to let the Lord in because then I know that he will tell me that I am wrong or need to make a better decision. But when I listen to the spirit, the outcome is always better.

Feeding the Geese

Here we are feeding the Geese at the park. There are so many parks here it is crazy. I hear that during the summer they offer free lunch for kids every day at all the parks along the river. This particular park has paddle boats in the lake, we haven't tried that out yet though. The geese were not scared at all of people, I was more afraid they were going to bite maddie than maddie was afraid of them.

Waving

Carson learned how to wave last week, this is the best clip that is short on video, but it is still pretty darn cute.

There is this great play place that is pretty huge, the pictures don't do justice. Parents just go there and you can eat lunch or surf the internet while your kids play. I had to play though because it was so fun!

POJO's

Apple Blossom Festival

This is us having a picnic at the park and playing. Also we went to this carnival in Payette. We thought it would be kind of like peach days but really it was some carnival rides and then like 5 booths selling chinese imported stuff for gangsta's. It was pretty funny. So we drove 40 mins, rode a couple rides, went down like the oldest slide EVER, then drove back to Boise.

Nature Walk

We went on this nature walk, we didn't make it very far with the group, we just branched off. The discussion of the plantlife was very boring. Anyway, we found this little river and played for awhile so it was really fun.

Boise

Hey family and friends,

I have the hardest time keeping up with this blog, I need to be better. I don't have any pictures for this post, but I thought I would say hello to everybody. I really like Boise. We have had so much fun. The kids and I have found so many fun things to do to keep busy. I wish I had more stuff here but it is kind of nice to not have much, (less cleaning) This morning I actually had a pretty stressful situation. I got home from dropping Tony off at work and I locked the keys and Maddie in the car. It was nuts, It took about 45 minutes until the locksmith got here to get here out. It took him like 10 seconds to break in. All of us were in our pj's and it was raining. It was just a crazy morning. Today we are going to go to this indoor play center for Toddlers. I haven't been there before but it is cold so we will try it out. Tony is loving Micron. I think he likes having nice equipment to work with. Well maddie is waking up Carson so i have to go. I hope I can remember to post some pics later.
